Julie Rivers is an eldercare advocate with over 25 years of experience focused on nursing home resident safety. She began as a case manager at a nursing home law firm, working with families in crisis. She is a Certified Senior Advisor and also cared for her mother through Alzheimer’s. Her business training deepens her understanding of how for-profit facilities operate.
Julie began her career fielding calls from nursing home residents and families reporting neglect, abuse, and unsafe conditions. She later served in a quality assurance role, reviewing case handling and working with law firms nationwide.
Her work provided a broad view of troublesome patterns in nursing homes across the country, including recurring issues like understaffing, regulatory violations, and breakdowns in care.
While caring for her mother through her journey with Alzheimer’s, Julie completed her MBA with a 4.0 GPA. Her caregiving experience offered a firsthand look at daily life inside facilities, deepening her understanding of how care standards affect residents and families.
As a staunch advocate for Alzheimer’s patients, Julie has testified on legislative measures to improve dementia care. Her commitment led her to Capitol Hill, where she met with lawmakers to voice the needs of those unable to advocate for themselves.
Julie’s work has been featured in the Boston Herald, where she urged lawmakers to pass the bipartisan Comprehensive Care for Alzheimer’s Act.
